Good Times: Evening of clairvoyance at Rastrick Social Club

Tickets are now on sale at Rastrick Bowling and Social Club for an evening of clairvoyance with Stephen Holbrook, priced at £10 in advance or £12 on the door. The event will be on Wednesday, August 24, starting from 7pm.

This Sunday the club will play host to the Yorkshire versus Wales crown green bowling championship match at 2pm with hot and cold food available all day with full bar facilities.

Kate Smith will celebrate her seventh year as club stewardess this Friday. She said: “I would say things could not be any better with the club going from strength to strength and long may it continue.”

Austin Wylie at the Wappy Springs, Ainley Top, informs me that the pub is ticking over quite nicely with regulars enjoying steak and fish nights Tuesday through to Thursday. The early bird is available Tuesday to Saturday 5pm till 7pm, and the Sunday special is available all day Sunday, which is very similar to the mid week early bird with small courses available.

Rick and Maggie Starkey of The Four Sons Inn and Roundhill, Rastrick, will begin serving food with a new menu at The Four Sons starting Monday, July, 4. This Sunday they are doing a three course dinner for £10 per head. There are only a few places left for the noon sitting. There is an organised men’s race trip to Ripon on July 16 with a few places left. You can book at either pub but the trip will depart from the Roundhill. There is also a table booked for the testimonial dinner of former Huddersfield Giants player Luke Robinson on July 9.

At the Barge on Friday evening they have live music from Lost Meridian followed on Saturday evening by U2 360.

Sunday night’s live music will come from Pink Peg Slax.

Rastrickian Alan Ingle at the Pear Tree, Battyeford, Mirfield is enjoying hosting the Euros at the pub.

With large screens to show the matches he also has an array of football themed real ales on offer and a superb new menu to compliment your beverage.

This evening from 6.30pm at the Junction Inn, Rastrick, it’s the June curry night with eat as much as you can for £8 including a bottle of beer for the men and a glass of wine for the ladies.

On Saturday night by popular demand local band Z List are back from 9pm.

This Friday at The Crown, Lightcliffe Road, they have live music from Style Back for all to enjoy, and please arrive early as it was a pub-filler when they last played.
