At the Lightcliffe Golf Club last Saturday evening, they had a fantastic fun packed event with over 60 people in attendance and most in fancy dress for an Abba-themed murder mystery provided by company Laughter Lines.

“It was a fantastic night and everyone made an effort with their costumes and the company we used for the event were brilliant, their singing and witty dialogue made for a very memorable evening,” added committee member Andrew Holmes.

The Holiday Inn

The Holiday Inn, Brighouse has added another date to their Christmas party nights, Thursday, December 8 is an All Inclusive night of Festive fun priced at £42 per person.

This Friday night at Jeremy’s they have Bootylicious on stage followed on Saturday evening by Brand New Vinyls. The Sunday afternoon acoustic set from 4pm comes from Sarah Widdup.

All the festive menus as well as Christmas Day menus are all available at the popular venue with dates filling fast. They also now have tickets on sale for their New Years Eve party.

“Last year was such a great party atmosphere that we have decided to rebook the amazing Bootylicious,” confirmed Rachel Bray, owner.

Tickets are £15 per person and include a glass of bubbly and canapés.

The Armytage Arms

Christmas is on the menu at the Armytage Arms with their festive menu and Christmas Day menu available for booking.

If you book a Christmas party before the end of October you will receive a free bottle of prosecco.

They also have a children’s three course Christmas menu.

This week the pub has also launched a new menu, with 21 day aged steak to taco salads and build your own kids meals.

There are also two meals for £8.50 available Monday to Friday.

The Barge

Tonight (Thursday) at the Barge it’s the weekly jam night followed on Friday by Bad Asteroids, Saturday’s live music is from Dr Rock and the weekend’s entertainment is finished off on Sunday night with Tombstone Buzzards.

The Shepherds Arms

Karl and brother Michael Rowley at the Shepherds Arms, Cowcliffe, have some top live music entertainment this Saturday evening with local band The Booze Brothers, a country rock and Irish band.

The Old Mill

Chef and Brewer establishment The Old Mill, on Wakefield Road, has introduced a new autumn/winter menu and its all about hearty dishes to warm you through as the nights draw in and become colder.

They have a new range of steaks; 28-day matured as well as pub classics such as fish and chips and slow cooked pork belly.

The Red Rooster

In the wake of the Septoberfest at the Red Rooster mine host Phil Ward has picked the nine most popular handpulled ales out of the 20 he had on the bar for Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday consumption.

“It was like a request programme on the radio with the punters who love their real ale so I will fettle the pumps and pipes on Thursday (today) and prepare for the enthusiasts and others to pay homage to them this weekend,” said Phil.

This is ahead of next Thursday evening’s cheese and wine tasting at £7.50 a head where you can drink and eat as much as you can of Czerwik’s finest and the following Thursday, October 27, when in National Curry Week you can also eat as much as you can over two courses and have a free drink thrown in for £7.50.

Phil is also preparing for the festive period and already he has booked Friendly Brass Band from Sowerby Brdge for a `Carols and Brass’ night on December 18.

The Junction

After leaving the Duke of York in May this year, Natalie Hayton and fiancée Sarah Maughan have been busy moving house and starting new jobs. However, Natalie was excited to be offered the Junction at Rastrick.

“We will be coming back to ‘home’ and hopefully will be getting the keys on October 17,” said Natalie.

“We have lots planned with a good selection of different lagers and guest ales plus we are looking at starting a mini gin and cocktail bar within the bar itself,” continued Natalie.

There will be entertainment on the agenda as well as a re-launch and of course after working at the pub for ten years previous, Natalie will be having a coming home party, planned for Friday, October 21, with DJ Baz on the decks.

There will also be a massive Halloween party on Saturday, October 29, with live music from Black Gravy, who are a rock band with great reviews.

The pub will be Halloween decorated throughout with offers on gruesome cocktails and shots.

Plus a raffle to win an amazing £50 bar tab.
