THREE friends are on target to raise £1,600 for Yorkshire Cancer Research from three special events.
Jan Clarke, Andrea Beevers and Yvonne Matthews, licensee at the Pear Tree pub, Norwood Green, held a jewellery party, a car boot sale and a party night to support the charity.
“The party night was a great success,” said Jan, an administration manager of Bailiff Bridge. “The pub was packed, there was music from the Milestones and a silent auction with lots of prizes.”
Jan’s husband Michael died in March aged 61 after undergoing surgery to remove cancer from his stomach, pancreas and duodenum.
The party night’s programme of events also included a red hot chilli pepper pizza challenge, Christmas quiz and games.
Regulars at the pub are keen to carry on fundraising and are planning an Italian evening in January in a bid to boost the total raised to £2,000.
Andrea said: “Customers and staff at the Pear Tree have pulled out all the stops to support this charity which is wonderful in this present climate when money is tight. We are all are eager to tip the £2,000 mark for Yorkshire Cancer Research.”
