Christ Church at Hipperholme is offering the chance for people to visit and enjoy their church more often.
On the first Saturday morning of each month, 10am to noon, there will be coffee, cake and jigsaws, starting in February at the church on Hipperholme crossroads.
This is an extension to the church’s twice weekly “good as new” sale.
“We have been aware for some time that many who work and children at school can almost never come on our regular Wednesday and Friday morning sales, so opening on Saturdays is a logical step,” a spokesperson for the organising team said.
“The emphasis on jigsaws is only for extra fun – all the normal bargains will be available as well,” he added.
The sales raise hundreds of pounds each year for local and overseas charities. Donated goods which do not sell after a few weeks then go to the British Heart Foundation shop in Brighouse, where much more is sold.
“The chats over coffee after visiting the sale are even more important sometimes,” the spokesperson said.
Friday mornings are partly staffed by social services clients and their carers and they value the experience enormously, he added.
Any new volunteers are welcome to join the church’s weekly rotas or on Monday mornings when receiving and sorting of goods occurs.
