Tesco’s supermarket in Brighouse has stepped in to pay a big bill for the Brighouse Business Initiative from the Brighouse 1940’s weekend.

A row erupted over car parking charges as the BBI were left to pay Calderdale Council £400 for the hire of Bethel Street car park.

The site was used on June 7 for a military vehicles display during the hugely successful event which saw approximately 100,000 people flock to the town for the festivities.

However, after seeing the story in the Echo, staff and manager Helen Maynard decided to pay the fee.

Lesley Adams from the BBI said: “We really appreciate and are grateful for the very kind donation.”
