Kershaw’s Garden Centre is helping to build affordable homes for first time flyers.
As part of National Nest Box Week the garden centre, on Halifax Road, Brighouse, is encouraging people to put up “Help to fly” properties in their gardens to attract birds this Spring.
Mark Yates, of Kershaw’s, said: “National Nest Box Week comes and goes each year and nationally only a tiny percentage of us take the initiative to put up a nest box to help new families.
“We know that February’s not the most inviting month to wander around the garden seeking the perfect place to site a nest box.
However, this year we’re going to help by offering special £4.99 ‘Help to Fly’ properties so you can attract more first time flyers to your garden this Spring.
“The starter homes are approved by the BTO and are constructed from FSC wood.
“If you would like to upgrade we have a range for superior properties also available, at affordable prices.
“We hope you’ll help us make this the biggest year for bird boxes.”
As part of National Nest Box Week, which runs from February 14-21, and its programme of half-term activities, Kershaw’s held a special bird crafts session.
The garden centre is holding a family drop-in and play session today (Thursday) from 2pm until 4pm.
