Hipperholme Junior School recently entered the Under 9 Independent Schools Association North Water Polo tournament.
The team trailed 0-2 at the beginning of the first game, realising water polo is a very demanding activity requiring athletic performance, mental toughness. We rallied at half time, adapting to the environment and then came out reorganised, re-energised and more determined. This lead to a 3-2 victory, kickstarting the tournament on a high empowering the students to go onto winning their group stage.
The semi-final game was somewhat one sided as the opposition seemed tired and couldn’t cope with our fast breaks and clinical finishing, blasting into the final with a 6-1 victory. In the final we faced holders Greenbank school which was a very tough match. Hipperholme took an early 5 goal lead, holding this until halfway when the opposition began to hit back. A praiseworthy 6-3 win meant lifting the ISA North West trophy.
