FORMER students from the class of 1991 at Brighouse High School are being invited to share their memories of times gone by.

It is 21 years since the students left the school in Finkil Street and a reunion is now being organised by a small group of friends, at ROKT climbing gym, the former Sugden flour mill, on September 29 from 7.30pm onwards.

The decision to organise the reunion stems from comments on social networking site, Facebook. Jane Ellis, formerly Newton, said: “I decided to put on my status has anyone got a room that we can have for virtually nothing or for free and it has all started coming together.

“A few of us have been getting together to organise it and catching up already which has been great. And we have already had quite a few interested but we just want to get the word out.”

Jane said there was people all over the world including Australia and quite a few in London but she hoped that by giving people enough notice people would be able to attend.

The reunion will be held in the penthouse at ROKT. “It is a great chance to catch up because it has been a long time,” said Jane. “But we do need to know how many people are coming because we need to make sure there is enough alcohol behind the bar. We have set up a Facebook page called Brighouse High School class of 91 because a lot of people are on Facebook but if people want more information they can email us.

“It will just be really good to all get together and see what everybody has done with their lives. Some of the teachers have agreed to come as well.”

Catharine Sutcliffe, nee Westwood, said: “It’s just a great reason to catch up. If people could let us know by September 15 that will give us enough time to make sure we have enough alcohol. ROKT is a great place and there is a great atmosphere. The function room is fantastic and there is a room next door that they can open up which is so much fun, obviously not for when you have been drinking, but it will be a great opportunity to have a look around because it is just such a fantastic place and is great fun.

Also organising the event is Chantelle Tankard (Wanklyn) and Faye Brady (Haigh). There will also be a DJ and curry available to all the 180 pupils who attended the school.
