Pupils push for healthy lifestyle

Students from Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School have helped put together their annual health and social care health promotion event.

The Year ten BTEC, Year 12 A-level and Year 12 BTEC pupils all had to create and produce an event which raised awareness of any health issue of their choice and then analyse the event afterwards for their coursework.

Year ten chose to raise awareness of smoking and drinking and raised money for The Macular Society, which helps support teens with visual impairments caused by smoking. Year 12 A-level chose to raise awareness of skin cancer and melanoma, and collect funds for Cancer Research and Melanoma Focus, while Year 12 BTEC raised awareness of mental health in support of the Mind charity.

The groups all worked extremely hard this year to lure in donations and sponsorship from high street companies

A total of £892.86 has been collected so far with money still coming in. All three groups and HLHS staff would like to thank everyone for their amazing support and generosity this year.
