A RASTRICK school could soon be welcoming international students.
From September a new state of the art facility will be housing boarding students at Rastrick Independent School who are expected to come from all over the world to take advantage of the excellent tuition at Rastrick.
Jenna Cole, business development manager for study links international, said welcoming international students will be hugely beneficial for local pupils who will be expected to study and work in increasingly international markets in the future.
“The international students will be integrated into the curriculum already run by the school, as well as receiving special English tuition to prepare them for further study in the UK.
“An alternative accommodation option for international students is to live instead with local families during their time in the UK.
“Homestay families close to the school will host both full time students attending traditional courses, and short term students attending courses held for a few weeks at the school throughout the year.”
A spokeswoman at the Rastrick school said the new venture is natural progression of the services they already offer because they now have a Tutorial College for 16 years to adult.
“Welcoming International Students will not only benefit them but our whole school population. New friendships and understanding of other cultures and countries is a pre-requisite for life in a global society. Many of our young people will live and work abroad at some point in their careers.
“Our excellent academic reputation together with our outstanding ethos of pastoral care provide an ideal environment for our students.
“Parents appreciate our family orientated, vibrant and extra-curricular provision within the all year round education and care. We look forward to an exciting future.”
The first students expected are three groups of Colombian girls travelling to the UK from Bogota.
