FORMER pupils of two Brighouse schools met to discuss days gone by.
Around 65 people attended the joint reunion of Victoria Secondary Modern School, Brighouse, and Withinfields Primary School, Southowram, held at the Lightcliffe Club in Wakefield Road.
Four former pupils travelled from far away to attend the reunion. These included Peter Quarmby from Oldham, Harry Bird from Padiham, Robert Cowan from Poole in Dorset and the furthest afield Philip Griffin from Germany.
The sad part of the evening was remembering the 17 former pupils who had died in the past 12 months. Among them were John Coult, 64, Philip Gomersall, 65, Tony Hey, 65, Dorothy Wilkinson, 68, Brenda Chilton, 65, Hugh Wilson, 69, Donald Learoyd, 73, and Clifford Horrocks, 72. A toast for absent friends was done for them.
There was a raffle and four boards with old school photos on display.
The reunion has been booked for next year at the same place, Lightcliffe Club, which will be the 30th anniversary on Friday, November 8.
