Double gold medal winner Hannah Cockroft was put in the spotlight when she visited Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School.
Hannah who took part in the London 2012 Paralympics was interviewed by students from Year seven and BBC Radio 4 staff as part of their ‘Women’s Hour’ programme.
She was then grilled by Year Eight pupils for a TV interview filmed by BBC staff for their BBC School Report project. Excited students interviewed Hannah on issues from disability and discrimination to fashion and music. Bringing along her gold medals, Hannah allowed students to hold and wear the medals.
Questioning Hannah and taking roles as photographers, camera crew and reporters, students collected information and quotes to use for the project.
Head of English Jenny Slater said Hannah was fantastic. “She spent a lot of time with students signing autographs and having photos taken. Students were inspired by what Hannah said to them and they gained a great deal from the experience.”
