The only clues with this photograph is that these are some of the cast members of the comedy play Dear Octopus in 1956.
This play was written by the celebrated author and playwright Dodie Smith.
It opened in 1938 at the Queens Theatre in London but after 373 performances it came to an abrupt end the following year when the declaration of war was announced on September 3, 1939.
After a number of performances in regional theatres it returned to the London in 1940 and In 1943 it was made into a film.
I am sure some of the students at St Andrew’s school from the 1950s will recognise one of their teachers.
Back row the man of the extreme right hand side is Mr Pollitt.
The only other clue to this photograph is the cast are members of the Brighouse Parochial Dramatic Society but I cannot find any further information about this society.
Do you know any of these cast members and where was this society based?
