A WOMAN has spoken of her terrifying ordeal after she was attacked by a dog.
The 61-year-old woman, who has asked not to be named, suffered serious injuries to both of her arms and spent four days in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
The incident happened on March 17 on the doorstep of her home in Wakefield Road, Lightcliffe.
“I was asked to look at the dog and was told it was fine,” she said. “But as I opened the car door it just went for me. I had a big puffer jacket on and he managed to bite through that and into my arm. With the impact I fell on to the floor and broke my wrist. I have had to have a plate and screws in it because the break was so bad.”
The woman said she didn’t blame the animal. “I’m just glad I had that coat on because we don’t know what could have happened. The doctors have said if it wasn’t for the coat I would have needed plastic surgery. I don’t think I would have had my arm if it wasn’t for that coat.
“I was quite shocked and I am still in a lot of pain. I have to go for physio and I have been told I won’t have the same movement in my arm.”
Police are looking into the incident.
