Man arrested after woman’s body is found under car in Cleckheaton


A 57-year-old man has been arrested after a woman’s body was found under a car in Cleckheaton.

Police are appealing for information after finding the body under the vehicle in Prospect Street at 12.03am on Sunday (May 4).

Officers and paramedics had been called to a report from a member of the public that the lifeless body of a woman had been found under a parked and unattended Vauxhall Omega.

The woman, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst over the prescribed limit. He has been released on bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Taylor, senior investigating officer, said: “This investigation is in its early stages and we are still establishing the circumstances of the incident.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Prospect Street around this time who has any information which could aid the ongoing investigation.”
