Creative kids put festive fun into Christmas

Arty children learnt about the true meaning of Christmas at a special workshop.

Held at Lower Wyke Moravian Church, around 13 youngster enjoyed a range of activities including decorating flower pots, making printed Christmas wrapping paper, making jewellery, decorating star biscuits and making advent calendars. They all enjoyed various games and then sat down to discuss what Christmas meant to them with Rev James Woolford.

Julia Wood from the church said: “It was a lovely day and we were pleased with how it all went.”

At the monthly meeting of the Greenfingers group Heather Baraclough helped around 20 ladies decorate cupcakes with greenery. Festive snacks were also served.

On Saturday there is the Christmas gathering from 4pm until 6pm. Hot roast pork sandwiches, mulled wine, Christmas cake and mince pies will be served.

Christmas carols will be sung and there will be Christmas music in the church.

On Sunday it is the cafe church based on Christmas praise.

The Christingle service will be held at 1.45pm on December 22 in the church and the Christmas service will be at 10am on Christmas day.

Normal service will be resumed on December 29 with the watch night service starting at 11.15pm on New Year’s Eve.
