Residents will get the chance to take a look around the new facilities at Rastrick Fire Station as they hold their first official open day.

Firefighters will give road traffic collision and chip pan demonstrations to the public.

There will also be a varielty of stalls, children’s rides, bouncy castle and food being served.

Entry is £1 entry for adults and free for children.

Anyone wanting to have a stall at the event are asked to contact the station on 01484 400573

Work started in May 2014 on the development at the juction of Clough Lane and Slade Lane before the station went live in June this year.

The consolidation of Brighouse and Elland resources at a new fire station delivers revenue savings of £1 million per year while maintaining excellent service delivery standards and providing employees with vastly improved accommodation facilities.

The station has retained its specialist water rescue capacity, housing a powerboat with all the crew highly trained in swift water rescue.

The former stations have now been put up for sale.
