A NEWLY-formed group will be bringing the history of Rastrick alive over the next 12 months to celebrate the library’s 100th birthday.
The Rastrick Local History Group is putting on monthly displays at Rastrick library over the next year.
It begins with a display concerning Rastrick’s war memorial and highlights Ernest and James Clay, formerly of Rastrick Common.
Chairman Alan Flux says that the work on show will be part of a longer aim of the publication of a book highlighting the History of Rastrick with chapters being prepared by various members who are currently engaged in much research.
“We are keenly seeking local people who may well have information, photographs or other forms of memorabilia and are willing to share it along with anyone who has a particular interest and would like to write a chapter themselves,” he said.
A series of celebratory events will take place during the week of November 22 next year.
Anyone interested in getting involved with the project can contact Alan Flux at email@example.com
He is also keen to hear from anyone who has a relative named on the war memorial outside the library.
Any details of their particular war or photographs would be of great interest and will help with the current display.
