Projex Solutions - Sponsor of Business of the Year at the Brighouse Echo Business Awards 2014

Projex Solutions is a specialist project engineering company offering a complete portfolio of project engineering, design and consultancy services to the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and offshore industries.

Over the last two decades a vast range of skill shortages have been identified - mainly due to the lack of apprenticeships being completed and a reduction in companies that actually offer them.

We have found that in order to continue supporting our clients and aiding the continued growth of the business, Projex Solutions would be best to develop a number of apprentices over the coming years.

We truly believe apprenticeships are about planting the seeds for the future growth of our business.

Jamie Ashton, Managing Director of Projex Solutions, started his apprenticeship in 1990 at Allied Colloids in Low Moor.

He said: “The five-year apprenticeship in electrical control and instrumentation was definitely the building blocks to my successful engineering career.”

In 2012 Projex Solutions moved to St Peg’s House in Brighouse, which was part of the original Silk Mill dating back to the 18th Century and provides us with 4,500 sq ft of both office and workshop space. This has allowed the continued growth and expansion of the business.

Because of the success Projex Solutions have had with their first apprentice now a project design engineer - Lewis Copeland, who was a finalist in the Brighouse Echo Apprentice of the Year Award 2013 - we have recently taken on an additional engineering apprentice.

Over the last six months we have been developing an administrative/business support role of which an additional apprentice will be employed to fill the role in the coming months, all of which bring added value to the local area.

The apprentices at Projex Solutions are involved in the detail design of our current and future projects and would eventually be working with minimum supervision, being integrated with our current staff who have more than 150 years of engineering experience. The engineering to be completed would cover electrical, control and instrumentation design (CAD), installation (test, inspection and CompEx), site calibrations and a variety of safety critical designs/calculations of which we currently offer to many companies locally, nationally and internationally.

At Projex Solutions our aim is to inspire the next generation of engineers, turning the work experience into work inspiration.
