Crime writers Bob and Carol Bridgestock have joined forces with a Brighouse business to help raise funds for charity.
The couple is coming home to celebrate the launch of their latest DI Dylan novel ‘Snow Kills’ at Prego Cafe Bar and Restaurant.
The ticket price for an ‘Evening With’ on November 3 includes a signed copy of ‘Snow Kills’ and a free drink on arrival.
There will be a reading from ‘Snow Kills’ by a professional actor, learn more about the couple in Bob’s entertaining talk about his days in the force, and there will also be a prize raffle with proceeds going to Help the Heroes and more.
They have also launched a short story/drawing competition for children throughout the borough with the theme ‘Snow Time’.
Five years ago crime fighters Carol and Bob, who retired to the Isle of Wight had not even thought about putting pen to paper, but with 47 years police experience behind them in the West Yorkshire Police, people they met were fascinated by the couple’s stories, some funny, some sad.
Their talks and competition’s have grown by word of mouth and subsequently raised thousands of pounds for charity.
Some of the prizes already donated for the story/drawing competition include a family voucher for Huddersfield Town Football Club, a taster session for a group of six at ROKT climbing gym, Brighouse, a play and drinks at Big Blue Frog, Halifax, a £20 voucher for Prego, a £20 voucher for Da Sandro Restaurant, Waterstones vouchers and much more.
The winner of the Under 14’s short story competition will also see their story published in an issue of The Scallymag Halifax/Brighouse and S/Bridge courtesy of Editor Melanie Hill who is based at Lightcliffe.
Entrants will be invited to a presentation on November 3 when the winners will be announced. Entry is free but donations in the form of a cheque are welcome for: The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
Deadline for entries is October 13.
Entry forms are available from Prego Italian Cafe Bar & Restaurant.
Meanwhile the couple has struck a deal with Turkish publisher Trend Yayinevi for the first three RC Bridgestock novels, Deadly Focus, Consequences and White Lillies.
Darren Laws from Caffeine Nights, the Bridgestock’s UK Publisher, said: “This follows on from the rights sale into South Korea earlier in the year and marks a fantastic year for Bob and Carol Bridgestock.
