Brighouse businesses are counting the cost after heavy rain battered the town over the weekend.
Many roads were turned into rivers in the centre of Brighouse and flooding on Phoenix Street caused extensive damage to the Artisan Fireplace Design warehouse.
The team worked yesterday to clear up the damage after river levels began to drop.
The showroom has not been touched and is still open for business, but the warehouse, full of customer’s new fires which were to be installed this week, has been affected.
Sue Malthouse, Managing Director at Artisan Fireplace Design said “I would like to express my sincere thanks to our customers for their patience, support and understanding after the flood disaster in the Brighouse basin.
“We’re all absolutely gutted that this happened at this time of year. The Artisan team have been wonderful, pulling together to open again for Monday. We have contacted all the customers who were due to have fireplace installations this week and rearranged new installation dates.”
The Old Mill, Wakefield Road, was also affected by the flooding and is currently closed while recovery work gets underway.
A statement on its Facebook page said: “We would like to apologise to all our guests for the inconvenience. We hope to reopen by Wednesday 16th December latest and look forward to seeing you soon.”
