AN INDIE band whose success and reputation are rapidly growing in the US will be returning home to play a one-off gig at Christmas.
Scars on 45, which includes Lightcliffe bass guitarist Stuart Nichols, have spent the last six months touring America but will be performing at the Cockpit in Leeds on December 23. All 500 tickets for the event have already sold out.
The five piece are currently in New York where they are recording for VH1. They have been recording an unplugged session where they performing three of their tracks and a cover.
The music channel have also announced that the band will be the ‘artist to watch’ for January.
This year has seen Stuart, Danny Bemrose, David Nowakowski, Aimee Driver and Chris Durling smash their way into the top ten of the Triple A charts - America’s rock music chart - and seen another of their songs used as lead track in the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
Signed by major US label Atlantic’s affiliate Chop Shop, the group have travelled at least 6,000 miles across the States playing to about 1,000 people each night.
By the end of the summer the band’s state side success was confirmed when their debut single Give Me Something was third in Amazon’s top 100 songs of 2011.
Their big break came in 2009 and have bulit up their fanbase in the USA after their track Beauty’s Running Wild was chosen for one of the closing scenes in the US drama CSI: New York.
