A community-led bakery is set for its grand opening and is ready to mark the start of Real Bread week.
The Mayor of Calderdale will unveil Love Bread’s bakehouse on Martin Street, Brighouse, on Saturday at 12am.
Staffed by volunteers, the not for profit organisation will hold an open day and is encouraging everyone to come along between 11am and 2pm to find out more about real bread making.
Founding member Carole Roberts said: “We are passionate about great bread. The opening of the bakehouse is the product of a lot of hard work by the volunteers of LoveBread who have done some incredible work to turn the electrical workshop into a bakery.”
LoveBread started in 2012 with the aim of bringing the many benefits of baking real bread to Brighouse and Calderdale communities.
Over the past 12 months they have worked with volunteers to provide real bread for the community. Regular workshops teaching the basics of making bread are also held and visits to local schools.
Fran Lister of LoveBread added: “We bake handmade artisan bread for sale in Brighouse and Calderdale at local markets and through Ryecorn Wholefoods in Brighouse.
“We are always looking for new volunteers to join the team so come on down to our open day and find out how to get involved.”
