A cut above the rest

TWO hairdressers have proven they are a cut above the rest after being announced as a finalists at a top award ceremony.

Gary Taylor from Edward and Co in Bradford Road, Brighouse, has been announced as a finalist in HJ’s prestigious 2012 British Hairdressing Awards in the North Western Hairdresser of the Year category, and Tamsin Pape has reached the final of the Newcomer of the Year.

To enter the competition, renowned internationally as the ‘Oscars’ of the hairdressing world, they had to submit four images, which fulfil the competition criteria.

Tamsin competed against stylists across the UK aged 25 years and under while salon owner Gary competed against stylists from Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and West Yorkshire.

The duo has an anxious wait until Monday to find out if they will scoop the title of their category, when they attend a glittering awards ceremony.

Tamsin said: “I was absolutely delighted when I received my letter telling me I had made it to the finals. To be acknowledged as one of the best young stylists within the hairdressing industry is an incredible feeling.”

Gary added: “This is my third nomination for North Western Hairdresser of the Year, just to be one of six hairdressers from the whole region to reach the finals is a great honour.

“To be recognised once again as being one of the country’s leading hairdressers and being involved in the British Hairdressing Awards is both a wonderful feeling and a great achievement. This year has been an incredible for the salon.”
