Well, summer may have gone for another year and whilst it has not really been the summer we would have all liked, there is one thing for sure.
The quantity and quality of strawberries that have been available have certainly been plentiful, so much so at least a couple of times I’ve had some for my breakfast.
In this photograph are some of the parishioners who attended the St John’s Church Rastrick strawberry tea and judging from the number of strawberries the ladies have it looks to have been another bumper year.
The helpers at this event held in Toothill Avenue from left to right are: Alwyne Gower; Anne Beaumont; Arlene Lord; Reg Redfearn; Oriel Kelly who is just about to serve the cream and Nina Nicholson. Sadly I don’t know the date of this photographic event other than that it is between 20 and 25 years ago. Perhaps anyone who attended this event might be able to help us.
