£18,000 distributed to charities from gala

JUST under £18,000 has been distributed to local organisations and charities.

The money was raised at Brighouse Charity Gala held in Wellholme Park in June. Although the gate money and the procession money was down compared to previous years the committee was still able to enhance the money raised by charities by 70 per cent.

This was due to donations and grants received.

Asda handed over £4,000 for allowing them to put on there Asda Active campaign, Websters Insurance and the Brighouse Echo £10,000 giveaway in conjunction with the Community Foundation for Calderdale which the gala committee was successful in achieving.

More than 40 charities and organisations received a slice of the Gala takings cake. They are Anchor Trust, £53.55; Bridge End House Nursery (donated to Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice), £361.50; Brighouse Explorer Scout Unit, £281.83; 1st Brighouse Guides, £231.88.
