Rock climbers scaled new heights

You can just imagine the conversation at home when young Matthew Ketteringham, seen here at the top of the rocks, got home from a day’s rock climbing at Albert Promenade in Halifax.

Talking about it to his mother, no doubt she would be fascinated about his day, possibly not realising just how high the rocks were until this photograph appeared in the newspaper back in the mid 1990s. The realisation of just how high it was then hits home.

I wonder what was going through the minds of his friends at the bottom and if they were actually queuing up to follow Matthew up the cliff side.

This adventure was organised for some of the students from St Joseph’s School at Hove Edge, and would have been something different to remember from their school days.
