It’s a wonder they actually have time to play cricket at Lightcliffe Cricket Club as the committee packs the calendar with so many exciting social events to raise funds.

After enjoying a festive evening on Saturday at the White Horse pub, Lightcliffe, the club has now firmed up some dates well into the New Year.

On Saturday, March 1 the annual winter quiz night will take place in St Matthew’s Community Hall.

Four weeks later, members will dance the night away at the annual spring ball at Crow Nest Golf Club.

Committee members and second team skipper Michael Brooke said: “It is a spectacular occasion just three weeks before the opening day of the season.”

Saturday, June 7 will see the return of the summer musical evening. After last year’s success story, local musicians like Bob Horne, Aidan Edwards, Kara Williams and Jonathan ‘Jocky’ Wilson will gather to show off their singing talents and play quality music. In 2014 the popular annual gala will be on Sunday, June 28 at the Cricket Club. Full details will be posted out nearer the time, but the line- up promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Michael said: “We have a mouth-watering line up of social and fundraising events throughout the year. Full details will be posted on the Lightcliffe Cricket Club website. What a year of socialising it promises to be.”
