l Owner Rachel Bray at Jeremy’s at The Boathouse has a great weekend of music lined up.

On Friday Zambooga will be playing songs from The Who, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, REM, T-Rex and much more.

Saturday is a night not to be missed as they have the fabulous Jah Maica playing reggae covers - one of the Caribbean’s “sweetest” live bands. To continue the Caribbean theme, they will be serving Jamaican food alongside the normal menu, and special cocktails will also be available from Friday right through to Sunday.

To finish the weekend on Sunday afternoon you can listen to the relaxing sounds of James Coley.

l Tonight (Thursday) at The Barge it is the weekly jam session with Mick from the Psychoslinkys.

On Friday, The Doctors will take to the stage and on Saturday evening Old’s Cool will be performing.

Sunday evening’s live music will come from Memphis Cruisers.

l The Holiday Inn at Clifton is hosting a children’s fun day on Sunday, August 31, from 11.30am with a special guest appearance from Peppa Pig. Tickets are £12 per adult and £6 per child (aged three and over) and £3.00 for children (aged two and under). The day will include a kids’ mini buffet, children’s disco, activity table, afternoon tea for the parents and, of course, an appearance from the special guest.

l The Wyke Lion has introduced a Friday Steak and Supper Night. They are offering three courses for £20. The steaks are served with a choice of seasoned chips, either thick cut or skinny. If red meat isn’t for you, there are plenty of other options to explore: salmon or monkfish, with two half-shelled mussels and fried calamari; BBQ chicken duo, with sweetcure bacon, BBQ sauce and cheddar, plus prawn cocktail, Mediterranean vegetables, garlic bread, chocolate brownie and giant eclair - not all at once, of course!

Plus there are classic pub favourites like gammon steak (with egg and pineapple), not to mention the carnivore’s dream - mixed grill of steak, sausage, lamb cutlet, gammon, black and white pudding.
