Brighouse singers have helped the Fixby Songbirds choir through to the finals of a prestigious competition.
The Fixby Songbirds choir consists of many members from the Brighouse area and is delighted to have made it to the final of the “Singing For Joy” competition.
The competition is being held to celebrate the centenary of the Women’s Institute in 2015 and the final will be held in Birmingham in March .
On Saturday, November 15, the choir performed in Ilkley at the King’s Hall in the Northern Regional Finals and sang to victory.
The Songbirds beat eight other choirs coming from Lincoln, Lancashire and North and East Yorkshire for the chance to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Albert Hall, should they win the finals.
Choir director Gail Crisp and choir founder Katy Meredith represent the choral group which has performed locally at the popular 1940s weekend and at the Civic Hall in Brighouse.
