Smart pupils move to help the homeless in Calderdale
Generous pupils have been donating food and gifts to help homeless people across Calderdale.
Youngsters at Woodhouse Primary School have been collecting a range of food and hygiene goods to support the local charity Smartmove which helps homeless and vulnerable people find accommodation in Calderdale.
Ken Lockett, volunteer coordinator with the charity, and the Rev Stephen Hannan received the goods which included rice, pasta, cereal, oats, salt, pulses, sugar and tinned items at a special assembly.
The charity was established in 1998 with its man office situated in central Halifax but work through the whole of Calderdale.
Head teacher Lynn Daveney said: “A huge thank you to everyone for the generous donations for our Harvest collection over the last few weeks.
“Ken Lockett from Smartmove and the Rev Steve Hannan were overwhelmed by the generosity of the school community.”
