Just weeks after returning from a tour of Australia, the Cory Band from South Wales are set to perform in Huddersfield on Saturday, September 14.

Currently ranked number one in the world and recent Brass in Concert Champions, the Cory Band has been wowing audiences all over the globe this year.

Regular visitors to Huddersfield, the band will bring its award-winning programme to play. The Rhondda Valley band performs every December at Honley Male Voice Choir’s Christmas concert and has performed on several occasions alongside Brighouse and Rastrick Band at Huddersfield Town Hall.

But this will be a unique opportunity for the band to feature its full concert programme and complete compliment of world class soloists.

As well as performing concerts throughout the world in 2013, the band is set to release five CD recordings. In May, Cory Band was crowned as European Champions in Oslo, beating bands such as Black Dyke and Leyland from northern England and Eikanger from Norway.

Cory will be directed by Philip Harper, director of music for the last 15 months, who has been working with the band to add a new dimension to concert and contest stage.

Cory Band celebrate their 130th anniversary next year and are proud of their Welsh heritage which is featured in their concert programmes.

Last year the band developed the Cory Academy which works with children on a weekly basis to teach them to play a brass instrument and inspire the next generation of performers.
