Brighouse and Rastrick Band will have to make history if they are to take home the prize at this year’s national championships.
The band were drawn first on at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain which are taking place today (Saturday) at the Royal Albert Hall.
No band has ever won the tournament from this position but the band will firing on all cylinders as they attempt to make history.
Brighouse and Rastrick President Paul Beaumont said: “We’re devastated to have drawn No.1. We’ll have to make history to win.”
They went on stage just after 10am this morning with a performance that had plenty of majesty but a few errors that may cost them in the final judging.
We’ll have the band’s final position when it is announced.
