Organisers of the 14th annual Brighouse Festival of Brass are confident that this year’s line-up of bands is one of the best yet.
Organised by the Brighouse Lions, the festival will be held in Brighouse town centre on June 29 and 30.
Taking part in the traditional March and Hymn Tune contest on Sunday, June 30 will be the famous Wingates Band from Bolton and the Northrop Band from North Wales.
Marsden Band will defend their title with serious competition from Skelmanthorpe, Yorkshire Imperial and Kirbymoorside - all championship section bands.
On Saturday June 29 at Central Methodist Church, Boobs and Brass from Northamptonshire will kick off the weekend of music with a concert at 7.30pm. There are just a few tickets left, available from Fawcetts in Commercial Street and Kirklees Music, Bailiff Bridge.
Boobs and Brass will also march on Bethel Street in their pink uniforms at around 1.30pm and collect for breast cancer charities.
Founder David Horsfield said: “We have a very strong line-up of bands and we are confident of a great event - let’s hope the sun shines again.”
In total 26 bands from all over the country will compete for honours in front of crowds of keen brass band fans.
