A dance theatre school has been given the thumbs up after it was officially opened by the Mayor of Calderdale Councillor Pat Allen.

A crowd gathered at Limelight Theatre School in Rastrick as the Mayor cut the green ribbon.

Originally based at St Matthew’s Parish Centre, owners Lisa and James McCann made the decision to buy the property next door to them at auction and created their own studio.

After purchasing the building in February last year, they started creating the new school in October and it took four months to complete.

To coincide with the opening of the Limelight Studio, dancers teamed up with the 4th Rastrick Guides to dance from 12pm until 6pm and raise stacks of money for Comic Relief Pictured at the official opening of Limelight Theatre School are James and Lisa McCann, consort Robert Weeks and Coun Allen with pupils.
