YOUNGSTERS at Woodhouse Primary School were celebrating after dancing their way to success.

The school in Daisy Road was awarded the trophy for the best school during the dancing competition held at Rastrick High School.

The students from Years Two and Six competed against other pupils from Castlefields Infant School, Longroyde Junior School and Field Lane Primary School.

The best couple from each school was given a medal and the best couple overall from the Year Six pupils was given a trophy. All the participants from Year Two were given a medal.

The 130 youngsters had to perform the waltz, samba, tango and cha cha cha which they had been practising over the last few weeks.

Organiser Marilyn Turner said: “The Year Two pupils danced beautifully and did extremely well. The Year Six pupils have entered the competition before and looked quite polished and were very excited about performing.

“It was a lovely evening and the students all put in a lot of effort. Especially the little ones who kept in their circle while doing the waltz. There was a nice atmosphere and the children were supported by their friends and family.”
