The Harrison Lord Gallery in Brighouse has opened its doors to some of the top contemporary artists working in the UK today.

The gallery’s Contemporary Art Show 2013 features work by Mirfield artist Nigel Cooke, AJ Callan, of Halifax, Rozanne Ball, Sarah Ewing and many others.

More than 50 original works - vibrant, quirky and colourful - are on show until April 6.

Steven Lord, gallery owner, said: “The exhibition opening was busy throughout the day and people were ‘wowed’ by the variety on display.

“This was the second year we have held the Contemporary Art Show and I can see it becoming a permanend fixture on our schedule of exhibitions.

“The selection of work from nationally and internationally known artists is second to none and I am pleased that customers think so too. It was great to hear such a positive response on the day.”

Many customers took advantage of the gallery’s ‘Own art’ scheme, run in conjunction with the Arts Council.

The Contemporary Art Show will be followed by In the Harbour, an exhibition of paintings with a coastal theme by northern artists. The exhibition will be headlined by the popular Yorkshire artist Sue Nichol and also taking part will be newcomers Anne Aspinall and Nola McGaul.
