Curtain up on a dance delight

Young performers from Act 1 Theatre School will be making a song and dance at Brighouse Civic Hall this month.

Children aged from three to 16 are presenting Curtain Up 2013, a song and dance spectacular, on Friday May 17 and Saturday May 18 at 7.15pm.

More than 50 performers will take part in the show which will feature a selection of songs from shows like ‘Annie’, ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Sister Act’.

Other songs will include ‘Just the Way You Are’, ‘My Boy Lollipop’, ‘Without You’, ‘Angels’ and ‘A Whole New World’.

Act 1 Theatre School meets on Saturday mornings at Queensbury High School and gives tuition in ballet, tap, drama, singing and musical theatre.

Principal Emma Blowers said: “Many special performances are emerging from our rehearsals and we are looking forward to presenting a wonderful production at Brighouse Civic Hall.”

The show’s production team includes Emma, singing teacher Rowan Russell, and dance teachers Marjory Walker and Lauren Ansell.

Tickets for the show are £10 for adults and £5 for children under 16 and £5 concessions. Act 1 Theatre School is now recruiting for children’s and adult classes. For more information contact Emma on 07939 383308.
