A NEW working party has been created as the Rastrick Big Local scheme moves onto the next stage.
A general meeting for the community regarding the project saw 14 residents put themselves forward to help drive the Big Local project forward.
In February, it was announced that Rastrick would be awarded £1 million from the Big Lottery Fund.
With the help of Big Local, which is being run by Local Trust, the community is being guided on how to decide where the money is spent and to involve everyone so it benefits the whole area .
Another meeting where all the residents are invited to attend has been organised at the Arncliffe Centre, Arncliffe Crescent, Rastrick, on Monday June 25, at 7pm.
Jason Middleton, chair of the Rastrick Big Local resident group is encouraging as many people as possible to attend the meeting.
“This meeting is aimed at all the people who live or work within the Rastrick area.
“Over the summer we are planning to run a Rastrick Big Local Roadshow, simply a gazebo with a table and information leaflets available for all and Rastrick citizens spreading the scheme news.
“It really is down to the citizens of Rastrick to make this a success.”
The roadshow will be making its first appearance at the Brighouse Charity Gala on Saturday June 30.
It will then appear on scheduled dates around the whole of the Rastrick area.
Members of the Rastrick working group have already been to a Big Local Spring event in Dewsbury to see how other projects work.
Tony Mullin, who will be the Big Local Rep for Rastrick said: “What makes Big Local different from countless other regeneration programmes is the residents are truly in the driving seat.
“Whilst the support of agencies, such as the council, will be vital in making this a success, it will be the residents who make the final decision on how the money is spent.”
