New Landlady Natalie Hayton at The Sun Inn, Rastrick, will know her fate this week as the pub’s future will be confirmed.
The pub was up for sale when Natalie re-opened the Sun Inn on June 13. However, last Friday Natalie, along with another interested party, put their sealed bid into the brewery with the outcome to be known at some point this week.
“I am hoping my bid has won and I have got the pub, although the other party that has put a bid in is just an investor and has said they would be happy for me to run it, so we shall have to wait and see,” Natalie said.
On first coming into the pub almost six weeks ago, Natalie, along with mum Christine Barraclough, set to and had the pub professionally deep cleaned as well as painted.
“We were working 15 hour days to get the pub up to scratch, which included a full day cleaning the lines then cleaning them every day for a week so we knew the beer would be right. Usually you only clean the lines once a week.
“The customers have commented on the taste of the beer and how clean the pub is,” Natalie said.
After working at the Junction Inn, Ogden Lane, Rastrick, for almost ten years on and off, Natalie is known around the area and has soon built up trade, especially a nice busy tea-time drinkers’ group.
“The regulars have been very supportive,” added Natalie.
Working at Pheonix Pressings, Brighouse, as a press operator, Natalie decided it was time for a change and to do something she had a passion for.
“It all happened really quickly. My mum and I came to view the pub and had the keys within a week,” she said.
Tonight (Thursday) at the pub it is the weekly quiz, which is hosted by local and regular Donna White with a music quiz section hosted by Natalie’s step-dad Steve Barraclough.
Then on Friday night it is the weekly karaoke, again hosted by Steve.
The family venture means that experienced Natalie is now training mum Christine on the day-to-day runnings of the pub.
Opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 4pm, Friday open from 3pm and Saturday and Sundays open from noon.
Good Times will bring you more news on The Sun Inn outcome next week.
