l Over the May Bank Holiday, landlord Adrian Whitworth at The Beck, Bradford Road, held a very successful beer festival.
After weeks of planning and two days of torrential rain threatening to flood the outdoor marquee, Adrian confirmed his fantastic customers rallied round and helped keep the water at bay. “Community spirit certainly played a part in getting us through some difficult challenges,” he said.
“However, Sunday arrived and it was warm and dry. Blood, Sweat and Beers arrived to set up their equipment and then the people just kept coming and coming. By 4pm when the band started playing the inside of the Beck was full and the marquee bar was also full of people. The atmosphere was electric and only one broken glass to report!
“Everyone had a fantastic time and our charity - Forget Me Not - will benefit from the money raised. Bank Holiday Monday was also successful as I decided to extend the festival by one more day.”
