Brothers Karl and Michael Rowley, who left the Globe in Rastrick at the end of 2012, have taken over The Shepherds Arms at Cowcliffe near Huddersfield.
Chefs Karl and Michael have given the pub a new lease of life and devised new menus.
Since leaving the Globe they have been on the look-out for the right business opportunity.
Karl said: “Michael took a break but I have been doing work all over North Yorkshire, in Ilkley, Harrogate and Skipton.”
Having run several pub kitchens, it was always part of the brothers’ plan to take on a pub with dining potential in easy reach of Brighouse and Rastrick.
The two brothers took on The Shepherds Arms last November but have been busy refurbishing the run-down pub, making minor improvements and working on the menus.
“Not everyone knows we are back but we are looking forward to welcoming old and new customers at the pub,” said Karl.
Last week a new menu was launched which will include weekly specials and seasonal produce. Traditional roasts will be available on Sundays and there are three ales - Timothy Taylor’s Golden Best, Copper Dragon’s Golden Pippen and one guest beer - permanently available as well as a selection of lagers and ciders. The pub’s wines have come from Rastrick company Cellar 28.
Karl and Michael have introduced a quiz night on Wednesdays and have plans for themed and gourmet nights in the restaurant.
The pub will soon be getting a new coat of paint and more pinic tables outside - and by next winter it is hoped a log burner will be helping customers keep warm.
