TOWN were quick from the off, passing the ball well and applying good early pressure.

In the 12th minute they took a deserved lead, when Jordan Byrnes found left midfielder, Luke Hill with an excellent through ball.

Hill’s pace took him past several players and into the six yard box where he slotted home.

Town’s dominance in the middle of the park showed with captain Angus Hastings and Callum Murgatroyd linking well, distributing the ball to the forward line.

Town’s defence was hardly troubled and Rothwell were always going to find it hard to create many chances.

Town’s right back, Dan Meredith put in an outstanding performance and had pace and quality when used as a winger in the second half.

In the 48th minute of the second half, Town got their second goal, when a fine pass from Hill gave Suleman Rafiq the opportunity to charge into the box and finish with a quality goal, which was enough to take Brighouse into the final.

Brighouse showed they had quality and versatility throughout the team.

It was not the busiest of nights for Town’s keeper Luke Hirst, but anything Rothwell did throw at him was dealt with in a confident manner.

Joe Farnsworth had another fine display and Harry Sutcliffe, returning from injury, battled hard in the middle of the park.

Town now have a final place secured in the County Cup, the Halifax Cup, and a quarter final place in the Huddersfield RCD League Cup.
