Young Brods get chance to develop

OLD BRODLEIANS are again without a first XV fixture this weekend but the Development side entertain Huddersfield at Woodhead on Saturday (2.15pm).

The ‘Twos’ will be keen for some action and a youthful side will be expected to take the field in what is usually a keenly fought fixture by two sides who know each other pretty well.

The Beavers travel to West Park Leeds for a friendly fixture at the Bramhope ground.

Brods’ annual Boxing Day fixture with Cleckheaton was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch so the first XV’s next game is at North Ribblesdale on Saturday, January 9.

This Sunday it will be back to normal with a hectic schedule of fixtures for the youth section with the two Colts teams both enjoying home fixtures with 1.00pm kick-offs.

The Under 19s entertain Selby in the Premiership and the 17s are awaiting details of whom they will be playing. The 13s are playing Pontefract (11.00 am) and the minis are playing local rivals Cleckheaton from Under 7 to Under 12 age groups (11.00 am).

The first XV lie in fifth place in Yorkshire One to underline their resurgence since this time last year.

They have won six and drawn one of their 12 league matches.
