Classy Terriers have a little too much bite for Wyke

Wyke took on Halifax outfit Boothtown Terriers, a team that finished third last season.

Wyke were looking to push forward after their draw with Odsal Sedbergh, but they were in for a hard day and within the opening minutes the visitors were over for a converted try and were over the whitewash again a few minutes later.

Penalty after penalty went against Wyke allowing Boothtown to extend their lead and then handling errors allowed the Terriers to race 80 metres for another try. Another try 10 minutes before the interval for the visitors was converted.

Back out for the restart and Wyke looked to close the gap. Quick hands saw the ball with Aaron Priestley before he fed the ball out to Paul Farnell to go over in the corner.

The game continued in the same vein as Wyke looked to get themselves back into the game, but the visiting team scored three more tries to put the game out of the reach.

Wyke were the team to put the final points on the board as they continued to mount an attack on the Boothtown line. This time the ball was moved out to the right and the veteran ‘BARLA Great Britain tourist’ Simon Owen raced on an inside line and received the ball to score wide of the uprights, Michael Wormald added the extras.

This Saturday they make the trip along the M62 to take on Brotherton.
