The Old Brodleians players, with three weeks to their first pre-season friendly and five weeks to the start of the Yorkshire One season, have been putting in the hard yards under the supervision of assistant coach Phil Gallagher.
They have also enjoyed a couple of sessions with Halifax RLFC’s conditioner Nigel Halmshaw, the former BARLA international loose-froward. The sessions have been well attended and the enthusiasm for the job in hand has been notable.
Head coach John Cole returns this week from his tour of Australia as part of the coaching team for the Yorkshire Terriers. A very successful tour in the Southern Hemisphere of six matches in which the team were unbeaten.
Chairman Richard Turner said; “This will only have increased John’s enthusiasm for the job at Woodhead and he will be biting at the bit to get stuck in.”
The chairman continued: “Extensive work to the Memorial stand has resulted in the cladding being fitted last weekend and at last with roof and walls in place we have a shelter from the elements.
“We would like to remind members and supporters we are having a weekend of action at the club on Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and 11.
“Please come along from 9am on Saturday morning.”
