BRIGHOUSE Juniors U17s were unlucky not to get all three points in a roller coaster rain-hit game against Churwell Lions U17s.

The away team were slow to get going in the miserable conditions and deservedly fell behind midway through the first half as the Lions poured forward from midfield.

Churwell could have had more goals but for the brilliance of the Brighouse goalkeeper Ethan Dingley and defenders Aaron Sykes and Haydn Bennett with last ditch blocks.

Brighouse were a different team in the second half though and goals from Ashley Johnson, Matty Waller and Max Lister put them into a commanding 3 - 1 lead.

But the complacency of the first half emerged again and the physical Morley team pulled two goals back before having a defender sent off for a second yellow card after he had chopped down James Lumb.

Brighouse manager Martin Thomas introduced Daniel Lever up front and in a frantic last few minutes Lumb, Johnson and Waller all went close but, despite the heavy pressure, the away team could not grab the winner.
