BRODS Senior Colts maintained their 100 per cent record with a fine home victory over Doncaster on Sunday.
Last season’s league champions are looking to maintain the high standards achieved at this level over many years by the Hipperholme club by playing in the Premier Division of the Yorkshire Colts League .
Brods were immediately under pressure playing up the slope against a strong breeze. Both sides were trying to play open fast flowing rugby and Doncaster opened the scoring with a good try taken by their scrum-half following a pick up from the base of a ruck.
The try was converted and Brods response was immediate. The ball was moved left to right and was finished by astrong run from second-row Greg Robertson.
Doncaster took advantage of a maul close to the Brods line with a forward drive for a further try.
Phil Town kicked a penalty just before half-time for 12-8 to the visitors.
Brods started the second half strongly with Dan Cole controlling the game from fly-half.
They took the lead following a strong forward drive and Town converted to make the score 15-12 to Brods.
From the restart the ball was moved swiftly to Elliot Fletcher who got itl to the supporting Cole who dived in at the corner.
Cole was on hand again to extend Brods lead to 25-12.
Doncaster had the final word with a fine converted individual try from their right wing.
The team, which incorporates U19s,18s and some 17s is coached by John Cole and train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm.
