Rastrick High School student Eden Warburton was at the British Swimming Championships in Sheffield from July 27 until Sunday, August 2 competing against the cream of the country.
The 14-year-old did not hit any of her personal best times but still gave, for her age, a very creditable showing.
Competing against girls a lot older and with a background in senior competitions, the standard represented a significant step up for for Eden, who was given plenty of incentive to further her swimming education after getting this taste of a big meet in Sheffield.
Her father Alex, said: “The competition was very strong, a lot of GB swimmers who she has beaten quite a few of this season but it just didn't happen this week for her.”
“But, there’s one thing I know about Eden, she is one hell of a fighter and will bounce back next season.”
Sponsored by Marshalls, Eden completes her training next week and then is off to enjoy some surf in Cornwall before a return to school and in October she is off to a swimming training camp in Torimolinos.
