Park A moved one step nearer to the Calderdale Mixed Doubles Division One title after an uncomfortable fixture against Queens B.
With key players unavailable for Park, Patrick Simpson and Alison Hunter were promoted to fill the gaps against bottom of the table Queens B.
With the match score tied at three sets all, Chris Williams and Alison Hunter beat Queens’ third pair and Patrick Simpson and Margaret Bottomley beat the second and then the first pairs to seal a flattering six sets to three win.
Queens A took some revenge, beating Park B resoundingly by 7.5 sets to 1.5. Park C also lost their match to Wellholme’s second string.
In the Ladies Doubles fixtures Park A had a late finish in their win over Akroydon. Janet Green and Margaret Bottomley won four sets and were well supported by Joanne Hudson and Alison Hunter who won two sets in the 6-2 scoreline. Park B had a dire performance, losing by five sets to three against bottom of the table Queens C.
Park A failed to get themselves out of a poor run of results in the Men’s Doubles league, losing to Elland by three rubbers to one. Joe Thornton and Chris Williams won one match. In their first match Jordan Hoyle and Patrick Simpson lost the tie break by 11 points to 9. Park’s Mens B team drew 2-2 with Sowerby B to continue their improvement in form.
